5468796 Architecture
5468796 Architecture is a Winnipeg [CAN]-based architecture studio established in 2007 by Johanna Hurme and Sasa Radulovic. Working around a single table, the practice unites the diverse knowledge and experience
2of twenty young professionals. In the past twelve years the firm has achieved national and international recognition and its work has been published in over 200 books and publications. The Houston-based Rice Design Alliance recently stated that they ‘truly believe 5468796 to be one of the most talented young design firms worldwide.’ In 2012 5468796 represented Canada at the Venice Biennale in Architecture and in 2013 they were selected as recipient of the 2013 Prix de Rome Award in Architecture for Canada by the Canada Council for the Arts. Project specific awards include Progressive Architecture Awards; Awards for Emerging Architecture & Future Project Award from the Architectural Review; three Governor General Medals in Architecture and Awards of Excellence from the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada, as well as two-time recognition as a finalist of IIT’s emerging MCHAP awards. Instead of looking for silver-bullet solutions the firm pursues invention as a way to re-instate legitimacy of Architecture in everyday life — we do so by finding opportunities in the most rudimentary of briefs and re-imagining the role of architecture in our cities.
